Post 5 - Lexia
Description of the tool: Lexia is an education software that provides educational resources for reading and literacy development. It contains features such as adaptive reading programs for K-12 students, phonics, vocab, and progress monitoring for teachers. Here is a tutorial from Youtube on how to navigate Lexia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEWcMPq6Gyc
Ease of use: Lexia has a dashboard for teachers providing easy to read reports and flags their students that may need intervention and further help. After their login, students can work independently and can work at their own pace and level since it gauges what reading and literacy levels the students are at and adapts accordingly.
Versatility: Lexia contains programs for all different grade levels, Pre-K through 12. It also provides programs for ELLs to help their speech recognition and academic achievement in English.
Overall likelihood of using it in your classroom: I am likely to try out this resource for my own students to see if it is an effective learning tool for my students.
Connection: Lexia can be connected to the TLC Framework, specifically Tier 2: Assessing. This program allows teachers to see how much students are learning and their comprehensions levels.
Hi Jordan! I had never heard of Lexia before seeing this blog post! I'm interested in learning more about this software, as there seems to be quite a few tools for instructing literacy. I like how you mentioned that this software is accessible for ELL students. I think I will also attempt to use this resource in my future classroom.
